Fresh Coffee Beans

Kopi Luwak Coffee and George

I wonder if George Clooney ever tasted Kopi Luwak Coffee; if he has well, I bet he would've said "There is Something Else" in the end of every commercial episode I happened to stumbled upon on the YouTube. I am not saying that kopi luwak coffee has better taste than Nespresso - as matter of fact both coffee perhaps, cannot simply be compared to one another -the fact is, out of its unique taste and origin, plus due to the lots of demand arround the world Kopi Luwak price has gone up higher every single year.

The actual taste?. Well, the last time I had a cup of Kopi Luwak Coffee I said to myself: "This truly is some feses". The coffee roasts pretty good and sort of have caramel taste, however I doubt if the jungle like green and musty smell would attract a newly coffee luwak tester to have another sip, altough I am sure after forcing her/himself for several sips one would taste the real pleasurable in all coffee. And if you are a smoker, the coffee can also be an excellent companion to have a cigg with. The lovely soothing aftertaste of Kopi Luwak and a cig would blend nicely.

Civet Luwak Coffee is Probably

Image 1
If you're looking for some unusual exclusive and slighlty bizarre coffee then this might just be it. Civet Coffee is probably the rarest coffee you can get. Only about 500 kilos is farmed (or found) a year.

Now for the manufacturing process: The Common Palm Civet Cat prowls the Sumatran coffee plantations at night, choosing to eat only the finest, ripest cherries. The stones (which eventually form coffee beans) are then collected by cleaning through the droppings by the natives who collect it.

Kopi Luwak as it is known, is considered to be the world's finest coffee by Native Sumatrans. This coffee has an Intense but delicate flavour and no aftertaste, which is unique in coffee. This flavour is due to the fact that the coffee has been partially fermented by passing through the system of the Civet.

  • THE RAREST COFFEE IN EXISTENCE
  • UNIQUE DELICATE FLAVOUR AFTER FERMENTATION IN THE CIVET'S DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
  • ONLY 500 KG'S OF THIS COFFEE ARE FOUND EACH YEAR

The World's Most Expensive Coffee kopi luwak perth

The source of the beans doesn't seem to be deterring coffee lovers with Kopi Luwak (Civet Coffee) selling for up to $1,300 per kilo, making it the most expensive coffee in the world according to Forbes Magazine.

Drinkers swear that it tastes like no other coffee in the world. In Queensland, Australia one small café is selling Civet Coffee for AUS $50 per cup and the price doesn't seem to deter anyone - locals and tourists alike line up to try it.

Only around 500 kg of Civet Coffee is produced each year making it very rare to find and difficult to order. Its not uncommon for suppliers to run out of stock. The Kopi Luwak that is produced is sold mainly in the US and Japan although it is slowly being found elsewhere.

Firebox is one of the few online retailers which sells civet coffee in the UK, the relevant page on their site can be found HERE.

Kopi Luwak are robusta

THE MOST EXPENSIVE COFFEE IN THE WORLD ACCORDING TO FORBES MAGAZINE

Kopi Luwak are robusta or arabica coffee beans which have been eaten by and passed through the digestive tract of the Common Palm Civet. This process takes place on the islands of Sumatra, Java and Sulawesi in the Indonesian Archipelago.

"Kopi" is the Indonesian word for coffee and "Luwak" is local name of this animal which eats the raw red coffee 'cherries' as part of its usual diet. This animal eats a mixed diet of insects, small mammals and fruits along with the softer outer part of the coffee cherry but does not digest the inner beans, instead excreting them still covered in some inner layers of the cherry.

Locals then gather the beans -- which come through the 'animal stage' fairly intact -- and sell them on to dealers. It is believed that enzymes in the stomach of the civet add to the coffee's flavour through fermentation of some type.

Cup of joe, morning java, caffeine kick… coffee is coffee, right? Not quite. A pound of Kopi Luwak coffee will run you about $300, or about $50 a cup.

One of the reasons it's so pricey is because of the unique process through which the coffee bean goes to get from Indonesia, where it is harvested, to the roaster.

Coffee expert Tom Kilty says a nocturnal animal called the luwak feasts on the matured coffee "cherry" once it falls off the tree.

"It then passes through the animal and into the waste it goes," Kilty explains. Farmers then come and pick the coffee out of the waste, process and clean it, and ship it to roasters."
